McQueen Review - Pure-rock Review

You never really seem to hear of all girl rock n roll bands from the Uk, they always seem to originate from the states but when a McQueen Ep landed on my doorstep a few days ago this all changed. Having never heard them before I was excited to listen but at the same time not as the only place I had heard the name before now was on the tour list alongside The Holiday Plan who aren't exactly favourites of mine.

The first track "Like I Care" is the first of the 2 songs on this 2 track Ep and as soon as the Cd starts it comes at you with an excellent rock n' roll riff, because it was early morning at this point it certainly woke me up even without the need of a cup of tea! Then the vocals kick in and the first thought that came to my head was The Distillers but a bit less punky, maybe a bit more towards the punky side of the Foo Fighters. In fact just put the Foo Fighters and The Distillers into a mixer and McQueen wouldn't be too far from the result!

The next track is in the same style as the first but has a slower paced verse to it and this track is alot more similar to the likes of the foo's. I'd like to hear more from this band to see what other goods they can come up with, could well be a band to watch out for and if the energy they have on this EP can be captured live then there'll be nothing wrong with this band at all.
