Miika Kuisma Biography

Miika Kuisma is an electronic music producer and DJ based in Finland. His interest in electronic music production began in 1992 when he found simple way to do music with him computer, so called "trackers". Since his first clubbing experience he knew exactly what he wants to do with his life, dance music! His biggest inspirations came from work by artists like Oliver Lieb, Faithless, Way Out West, Sven Vath, Moby and early Eye-Q.

Today, his main styles straddle dark, atmospheric trance spiced with classy riffs and interesting progressive arrangements. Anyone who knows his work can agree that he truly has his own unique sound. Miika is mainly producing music for UK based JOOF recordings owned by John "00" Fleming. In addition to his solo project he has also involved in several other projects collaborating with other producers (including John 00 Fleming, Misja Helsloot, Christian Rusch, Mr.A, Darude and Kenjido Okiru). His other guises include AR52 (with DJ Tab) and Fluid in Motion (with Singaporean tech-guru Luke Chen).

During this millennium Miika's profile has firmly gone up and up and it's fair to say at the moment he is considered as one of the most important Scandinavian producers. Just recently he won "The best artist/producer" and "The best new DJ" 2004 -titles on Finnish Club Awards. Besides producing and DJing Miika has put great effort to build his Subtraxx company into a digital record label and music production company.
The best way to catch his sets is to listen web radios. Besides his own show Subtraxx Experience (DI.fm) Miika and Dj Tab are running a show on ETN network. It's called "AR52 presents HelsinkiVibes" and it will feature DJ sets by HelsinkiVibe studio community. This studio has several rooms holding such talents as Super8, Dallas Superstars, Aalto, Miika Kuisma, AR52, DJ Tab, K-System, Tripguide, Modulation, Fluid in Motion, Peaktwins and Raymond Wave. Recently Miika started a new show on Satellite Radio Network called WorldSpace. This new radio show is one of the biggest dance music shows in the USA and Miika is taking weekly turns with Warp Brothers, Solarstone and Angeli & Nelson.

So far Miika's career highlights include gigs in Holland, UK, Sweden, Singapore and Finland. His productions has reached #14 (UK Dance Singles Chart), #10 (Canadian Dance Chart), #14 (Dutch Dance Chart), several BBC Radio1 airplays and of course regular support from worlds top Djs including Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Paul Mendez, Marc West, Tall Paul, Matt Hardwick, Scott Bond, Lange, Marco V, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten... Last July he joined Tiesto's CD compilation tour in Turkey and played three closing sets in Istanbul, Antalya and Cesme front of over 12,000 people.

Rest of the year 2005 Miika will spend his time touring around the world and finishing his debut album (to be released in november on Subtraxx Recordings).
